the palme gonpa monastery reconstruction project

Lho Kunsang is an eminently recognized and respected Riponche in the Tibetan Buddhism religion. For two decades, he has undertaken efforts to restore the Palme Gonpa Monastery, a monastery in which he spent a good part of his life and which, to a great many followers, represents an important monument and sanctuary.

The Monastery unfortunately did not go through the Cultural Revolution unscathed. Much has been done to rebuild and refurbish the Main Hall and adjoining rooms, which fell prey to mass destruction. Numerous Buddha statues are needed to complete the Thousand-Buddha shrine and its surrounding Main Hall.

Through the generous efforts of many patrons, most of the Buddha statues have been sponsored. Of course, one hopes further contributions can be made to complete the reconstruction in process.

Names of patrons will be engraved on the pedestals of the Buddha statues to show appreciation. And for those contributing $5000 or above, commemorative plaques in honor of the kindness will be erected.

The project is by no means small. A large Buddha statue costs US $10,000, medium ones $5,000, and small ones $100. Erection of a stupa is about $30,000, while construction of the Thousand-Buddha main shrine room is around $250,000.

Donations in any amount are welcomed, and monks will pray for the good karma of donors to thank them for their kindness.

If you are interested in donating please visit the Awakening Buddha Foundation Website.
